This article explains how to set up your own storage account for use with SyncBox. While this is not mandatory, it allows you to maintain full control over your data, ensuring compliance with specific organizational requirements. All data stored by SyncBox in this location is encrypted and cannot be read or modified.


Before proceeding with this guide, ensure you have the following information prepared:

  • Storage Account Name
  • Access Key
  • Container Name

If this information is not yet available, please follow the instructions below to set up a storage account:

Create a Storage Account on Azure


Configuration in SyncBox

Open the SyncBox application


Go to "Storage accounts".


Click on "+ New storage account"


Provide information for (all fields are mandatory):

1. "Display name", this will be show in the list
2. "Storage account status", set this to "Active"
3. "Select storage account type", set this to "AzureBlob"
4. "Account name", fill in the Storage account name from the Azure storage account
5. "Account key", fill in the Key from the Azure storage account
6. "Container name", fill in the name of the container in the Azure storage account that can be used.

7. Click on the "Save" button to confirm the settings.
Confirm that the settings have been saved correctly


If no active storage accounts are available, SyncBox will default to using its own storage account.

When multiple active storage accounts are available, SyncBox will randomly select one each time information needs to be stored.
